The Welcome Day was held on September 1, 2025 in Clermont-Ferrand 🇫🇷
As always, the very first days of September for IMAPP marks the beginning of a new academic year and the meeting with new students ready to start the first of the four semesters included in the degree course.
The 28 students admitted to the 2025/2027 intake course were welcomed at Amphithéâtre 9010 of the École Universitaire de Physique et d’Ingénierie of University Clermont Auvergne on the morning of September 1st by the three Degree Programme Directors: Prof. Stephane Monteil – from University Clermont Auvergne, Prof. Angelo Carbone – from Department of Physics and Astronomy “Augusto Righi” of the University of Bologna and Prof. Kevin Kröninger – from Technische Universität Dortmund.
The students come from 18 different countries: Kazakistan, Venezuela, Ukraine, Colombia, Sri Lanka, Malaysia, Slovenia, India, Spain, Germany, Indonesia, Russia, Italy, Turkey, Pakistan, Thailand, Nigeria.
Among these, 19 obtained scholarships offered by the Erasmus Mundus Joint Master program funded by the European Union.
Together with the three Degree Programme Directors, a delegation of some of the professors from the French teaching staff who illustrated the content of their respective courses: among them, Prof. Olivier Deschamps, Prof. Julien Donini and Prof. Jean Orloff. Students will have the opportunity to meet and get to know them immediately, with the start of the first semester lessons scheduled for the following day.
New to this academic year, the possibility for non-French students to study – or improve – their knowledge of the French language: Prof. Karine Rufin – she also spoke in the morning – and Prof. Marie Godet from Centre FLEURA and Centre des langues et du multimédia (CLM) of University Clemont Auvergne, will offer French lessons to students, involving them in cultural activities and events linked to the city and territory of Clermont Ferrand.
With this initiative IMAPP wants to be an even more meeting and in-depth point between European cultures.
This is the fifth edition of the master’s degree, the third under the Erasmus Mundus label.
