🏆 The winner is Giulia Fazzino from 2022/2024 intake

Every year, the Rectorate and the Association of Friends of TU Dortmund University organize an important Academic Anniversary Celebration on the founding day of the TU Dortmund University, December 16. In a festive setting, TU Dortmund University honors the best graduates of the year as well as the best dissertations, awards the Research Prize of TU Dortmund Young Academy and also awards prizes for the best teaching.

Last December 16, 2025, the President Prof. Manfred Bayer kicked off the celebrations in front of an audience of over 800 guests in the Auditorium Maximum. After the Rector’s welcome, numerous awards were presented. Together, Association of Friends of TU Dortmund chairperson Guido Baranowski and Vice President Academic Affairs Prof. Wiebke Möhring presented the Best-of-the-Year Prizes for outstanding theses at the 17 departments.

The award for the department of Physics went to Giulia Fazzino, IMAPP student from the 2022/2024 intake.

Giulia received the prize for her thesis “Suppressing pile-up contributions in the formation of topological clusters in ATLAS”, written under the supervision of Dr. Chris Malena Delitzsch (with her in the photo) during her fourth semester at TU Dortmund.

Graduated on September 30, 2024 in Bologna, Giulia is currently a PhD student working on the application of Graph Neural Networks for track reconstruction at the ATLAS experiment at Heidelberg University.
